For decades, Petit Jean Electric Cooperative has held its annual meeting and board of directors' election in May. This year's meeting and election will be held in June.
In connection with a lawsuit filed by cooperative members in 2025, the Court instructed that ballots could not be mailed until after a hearing that was held on April 28th. Because this timeline does not allow enough time for ballots to be received and returned, the Board has had to adjust this year’s election schedule. Petit Jean Electric has updated its timeline accordingly.
The following timeline allows enough time for every member to receive their ballot and have the opportunity to vote.
What's Changing
- Ballots will go out in late May, rather than the first week of May. Ballots are in the mail! Return your ballot in the postage-paid envelope or at any of our 3 office locations: Bee Branch, Clinton, and Marshall. Ballots have to be returned by 9:00 am on June 25th.
- The Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the cooperative's headquarters in Clinton.
- The deadline for returning ballots has been adjusted to align with the new meeting date. Specific instructions will be included with each member's ballot when it arrives.
What's Not Changing
- The candidates on the ballot remain the same. The two open seats are District 1, Position 2, and District 3, Position 1.
- The voting process is unchanged. Members will receive a ballot by mail, mark their selection, and return it by the printed deadline.
- No member action is needed right now. Ballots will arrive in June. Watch your mail for your official ballot.
Looking Ahead
We will continue to share updates on this website, in our member publication, and on the cooperative's Facebook page as the new election timeline approaches. The 85th Anniversary celebration on May 1st at the Clinton headquarters will proceed as planned.
We appreciate the patience and engagement of our members as the cooperative works through this adjusted timeline. The annual meeting remains one of the most important moments of the cooperative year, and we look forward to seeing members in June.
