Need Help Paying Your Bills? LIHEAP May Help

The federal government’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides help for qualifying members with their energy costs during the summer and winter months.

LIHEAP is administered by community action agencies. In Petit Jean Electric’s service area, those are Ozark Opportunities, Northcentral Arkansas Development Council, Arkansas River Valley Area Council and Community Action Program for Central Arkansas.

Winter assistance was expected to be available in January, and we encourage members to contact the agency serving their county for more information. Ozark Opportunities serves residents in Van Buren, Searcy, Newton and Marion counties. Northcentral Arkansas Development Council serves residents in Stone County. Arkansas River Valley Area Council serves residents in Conway and Pope Counties. Community Action Program for Central Arkansas serves residents in Faulkner and Cleburne counties.

The amount of help available varies based on a member’s income, number of people in household and other factors.

Petit Jean Electric tries to work with members who are experiencing hardships. Members with questions or concerns about their account may reach a Petit Electric Member Service Representative by calling 501-745-2493 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

As a reminder, the co-op will not disconnect anyone for nonpayment while the Arkansas Public Service Commission moratorium is in place. However, the suspension is not
a bill waiver. We encourage members to pay at least some, if able, to avoid having such a large balance when disconnection procedures resume.

BILL PAYMENT REMINDER

Although we have suspended disconnections and late penalties temporarily, you must still pay for the energy you use. By using our mobile app, you can check your energy usage regularly to be aware of your account balance.

Paying as you go can help avoid the anxiety of being surprised by a large account balance that must be paid. We will notify members in advance before we resume disconnects.

Call us at 501-745-2493 if you have any questions, or if we can check your balance for you.
