ANNOUNCEMENT OF PETIT JEAN FIBER FOR BROADBAND NETWORK

ANNOUNCEMENT OF PETIT JEAN FIBER FOR BROADBAND NETWORK

For many years, the mission of Petit Jean Electric Cooperative has been to make lives and communities better by providing our members with high-quality, affordable services. Today, I’m pleased to announce that we are re-committing to that mission with our plans to build a world-class fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network — Petit Jean Fiber!

Petit Jean Fiber multi-year deployment will encompass 2500 miles of fiber to the members served by the cooperative. Fiber construction is expected to begin in early 2021 with the first members connected by the 4th quarter of 2021. The broadband network will deliver symmetrical gigabit internet capabilities — among the fastest and most robust in the nation Services will be offered through Petit Jean Fiber, a subsidiary of Petit Jean Electric Cooperative.

A fiber network will allow us to provide you with high-speed internet and quality voice services and will help to usher in a new era of economic, educational and community growth in our communities.

As we have all learned over the past year, high-speed internet is no longer a luxury, but a necessity — one that our communities have lacked until now. With fiber to the home, you will benefit from the fastest and most robust internet in the nation. With symmetrical gigabit speeds, you have the same high speeds for uploading and downloading, which opens the doors to telemedicine, working from home, seamless distance learning and new tools and applications.

We are currently in the planning stage and determining our build-out schedule. A project of this magnitude will take some time to complete but rest assured that we will move as quickly as possible and are committed to reaching 100% of our members.

Thank you as always for your support. We will keep you posted with our construction plans and other important details as we proceed.
