From the Managers Desk: Petit Jean Fiber Construction Update
It’s hard to believe the 4th of July is almost here! Our team at Petit Jean Fiber powered by Petit Jean Electric Cooperative has been working tirelessly to bring reliable high-speed, Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Internet service to our members as quickly as possible. Here’s an update on what’s happening and what’s coming next:

We are excited to see make-ready construction and fiber construction continue in our Clinton Industrial, Scotland, and Cleveland areas. Our first fiber huts were set at the end of May and crews are changing out the poles to accommodate the fiber lines that will be added. That means we anticipate the fiber stringing construction crews to begin as soon as August. These crews work at a very rapid pace, often capable of stringing several miles of fiber per week. With actual splicing of the attached fiber in Scotland at the end of summer or early fall, this means that it is likely that some customers will be connected before the end of the year! Other customers in these areas are anticipated to be connected in the first half of 2022.
In the next several months, make-ready engineering and construction will also begin in the Bee Branch, Damascus, and Quitman areas. We expect the first customers to be connected in these areas during the second quarter of 2022. More specific timelines will be announced as the project evolves. This is a complex, long-term project – quality and reliability take time. Sometimes weather and many other factors impact our plans, but we will continue to communicate with our membership about any changes to the schedule. Please be patient as we work our way to you – I can assure you that it will be worth the wait!
If you live in these areas, you can expect to see multiple contractors such as Conexon, Osmose, MDR, and Ervin Cable with crews working on behalf of Petit Jean Electric. All contractors’ vehicles should be marked “Contractor for Petit Jean Electric Cooperative.”
