Petit Jean Fiber – Finally a fast Internet!
Later this month, families all over our service area will be coming together to celebrate Thanksgiving. For us at Petit Jean Electric, we are thankful that this will be the last year without fiber internet for our communities! In the coming weeks and months, we will begin connecting our first customers with blazing-fast, high-speed internet! Our goal is to connect some “friendlies” (or pilot customers) to test the network first and then hopefully connect our first Petit Jean Fiber subscribers, in the Scotland area, by the end of the year.
We are also thankful to launch our full website soon! We are close to adding our service options for residential and businesses to www.PetitJeanFiber. com. The new site will include features for our members to place orders and manage their fiber service accounts once service becomes available in your area. Right now, everyone interested in service can still go to www.PetitJeanFiber.com to pre-register. This is the best way for us to get news to you quickly when fiber is ready in your neighborhood.

You may hear us talk about Gigabits a lot. But what does that mean? First, it’s important to know that whenever we refer to Gigabits, we are referring to internet speed, not a data package with your cellphone plan. Petit Jean Fiber internet service will never have data caps or data throttling – you may use as much as data as you wish on a monthly basis.
Internet speed is calculated on the amount of data processed per second – called Megabits per second, or Mbps. We will offer two different speed options: 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps. 1 Gigabit per second is equal to 1,000 Mbps per second. With either speed option, you will be able to run multiple devices – such as cellphones, computers and laptops – simultaneously in your home or business without decreased download and upload speeds. The table below gives you a speed comparison between what you may have now and what’s possible with fiber to the home.
