Capital Credits

Image of mailbox with mail in it and the flag up

Petit Jean Electric Cooperative Corporation works to serve you the member, not to make a profit. As a member, you share in the residuals in the form of Capital Credits. Capital Credits are the most important distinction between a cooperative and any other form of business. Members of the cooperative

have a financial stake in the business. That is why it is so important that each and every person who receives electricity from Petit Jean Electric understands that they are members of the cooperative, not just consumers.

Your Board of Directors approved the refund of Capital Credits to you this year, just as they have done in the past. With this year’s retirement, it brings the total to over $26 million retired over the years since 1940. Your refund represents your share of margins that are being refunded for the year 2002. The amount of individual refunds is based on the amount of electricity used in that year. Checks will be mailed in December 2021 to all eligible members who received service in 2002.
