Saluting All Military Veterans

Saluting All Military Veterans

This November, Petit Jean Electric Cooperative salutes all military veterans who have served our great country, the United States of America. We express our deepest gratitude for all those who faithfully discharged their duties across various branches – land, sea and air – serving our country, some paying the ultimate price for our great democracy and its freedoms.

“Some Gave All”

Country music recording artist Billy Ray Cyrus sings, “Some Gave All." The song features a veteran named Sandy Cane who represents all military veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our freedoms. The song narrates Cane’s transformation from a boy to a man through service, highlighting the cost of freedom and the importance of remembering those who served.

It emphasizes that many veterans stood firm for the “red, white and blue,” with some making the ultimate sacrifice. The lyrics call on citizens to love their country, live with pride and never forget those who died defending it (see words below).

Honoring Individual Veterans and Employees

Recently, Petit Jean Electric Cooperative honored Jack Owens, one of our own World War II veterans who celebrated his 100th birthday. Owens served as a First Scout in both the WWII European Theater and Pacific Theater, earning two Purple Hearts for his sacrifice.

Petit Jean Electric Cooperative also takes this time to recognize and thank all our employees who wore our nation’s uniform and faithfully discharged their duties.

"Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died
America, can't you see
All gave some
And some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties, and recall
Some gave all
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties, and recall, yes recall
Some gave all
Some gave all."
